I use these masks to walk/run 5/6 miles at a time in very cold weather. This new mask is an improvement on the original windproof mask design. The individual segments of the mask and seams are placed differently, which makes it feel as if the mask was custom made (at least to me). The inside of the mask is lined with a very soft material that makes it even more effective at keeping warm and dry. The best change so far is the front of the mask: it has additional material on the nose/mouth area, it makes it a lot easier to breathe but at the same time it stays dry (the original mask gets damp if you are a mouth breather). The shape of the head area is perfect for wearing under a cap.
The way the seams changed also makes it a lot easier to route headphone cables outside of the mask. I wear a wireless Bluetooth headset that loses connectivity if I wear it inside of a mask. With the previous design it's a bit hard to route the cable, with this new design there's a bit more room due to the way the fabric flaps over the ear.
I have used this mask down to around 25 degrees Fahrenheit adjusted for windchill and I was always extremely comfortable.
Update: January 2018: I have now worn this mask during negative windchill (my worst one so far has been -4 F), and I am still very comfortable. I have been running in < 10F for the past week without issues and the windchill doesn't seem to be a factor as long as I remember to wear the mask so it covers my eyebrows, unlike how I wear it in my photos.
Shame on Hanes for selling this garbage.
I don't really care for the gold chain strap so I switched it out with a plain black one I had from another purse and I honestly love this bag!
The ears and more rounded and kind of curve to the sides of the bag rather than standing up pointy on their own like the picture, but i don't mind that very much.
